UPDATED:

A 30-year-old Allentown man died Friday afternoon, hours after police say he was shot by a teen in Bethlehem.

Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio said Altaron Amir Robinson was the victim of a gunshot wound, and ruled the manner of death a homicide.

said that officers were called about 9:30 p.m. Thursday to the 1900 block of Butztown Road, near Gov. Wolf Elementary, for a report of a shooting. Police found a man, identified as Robinson, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.

Gianni Santini, 17, of Bethlehem has been charged in connection with the shooting. Attorney John Waldron said Santini’s mother retained him Friday and the boy turned himself in to  Bethlehem police Friday night after being encouraged to do so by his mother and Waldron.

Police said the shooter ran away after the shooting, and investigators believe the shooting was not random.

Gov. Wolf Elementary School was closed Friday as police investigated nearby.

Santini initially was charged with aggravated assault, robbery and carrying a firearm without a license, as well as a misdemeanor of possessing an instrument of crime. The DA’s office said Santini faces charges as an adult because of the nature of the charges and use of a deadly weapon.

Waldron said he anticipates that Santini’s charges will be upgraded to criminal homicide charges and other related charges. Santini will be arraigned today and Waldron said he expects no bail amount will be set for his client.
