More than a dozen road and pedestrian projects around the Lehigh Valley are slated to receive more than $5.5 million in the latest round of funding from the state’s .
The fund was created as part of Act 89, a transportation bill signed into law in 2013, to promote economic development, as well as improve local transportation and pedestrian safety. The latest projects were approved Tuesday by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.

Lehigh County
- Allentown, MLK Trail extension, $250,000
- Allentown, 17th Street traffic signal improvements: $250,000
- Catasauqua, Bridge Street streetscape improvements: $250,000
- Fountain Hill, Broadway curb and sidewalk replacement, phase 2: $200,000
- Hanover Township, Lehigh Valley International Airport Northside Logistics and Cargo Complex access road construction and intersection improvements: $600,000
- North Whitehall Township, King’s Business Park roundabout construction at routes 309 and 873: $625,000
- Whitehall Township, Ironton Rail Trail bridge and roadway crossings: $717,025

- Bath, Street lighting replacement project: $245,000
- Bethlehem Township, emergency preemption traffic signal: $341,963
- Bethlehem, Third Street multimodal connections: $900,000
- Easton, College Hill intersection improvements: $194,223
- Freemansburg, Main Street pedestrian and vehicular safety improvements: $350,000
- Lower Nazareth Township, Butztown Road realignment and rehabilitation: $725,000
- Plainfield Township, Engler Road rehabilitation: $225,000

- Wilson, South 20th Street paving and pedestrian improvements: $50,000
