After the snow comes the fun part: Sledding!
If you hadn’t already noticed, the Lehigh Valley has some pretty fantastic hills in our backyards, but maybe your family wants a change of scenery to try something different — and perhaps a bit more extreme.
So grab your snow slider of choice and head out to one of these local slippery slopes. And please be careful.
Here are the best sledding hills in Lehigh Valley area
The nice, long and popular hill is behind the skating rink at 345 Illick’s Mill Road.
Near the athletic fields south of Broadway at Parkway Road.
. The steep hill is between Cedar Crest College. You can park at the end of Honochick Drive (near picnic pavilions).
. East side of Oxford Drive at Devonshire Road. The wide, short hill is a crowd favorite. Be sure to steer clear of the ballfield fence.
. Big downhills between Park Drive at top of the park’s west side and Little Lehigh Creek.
East of YM/YWCA at 15th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Watch out for dips and drop-offs; not recommended for those unfamiliar with the terrain.
. The wide, long hill is on the south side of Lehnert Road between Mickley and Mauch Chunk roads.
Hills are in the park at South Halstead and East Union streets.
Hills are near the school at 1621 Catasauqua Road.
Between Walters and Rockland streets on west side of Stefko Boulevard.
The long, grass-covered hill is next to the dog park.
. Hills (some steep ones) are located in the park between Wood and Gruver avenues.
2601 William Penn Highway, Palmer Township. Hill is on the side of the school, facing the supermarket.
. Hill is in the northern section of the campus off Landis Mill Road above DeSales Drive.
Hills are off of Route 563, above the marina.
Eight miles west of Tamaqua.
