Galentine’s Day was born in season 2 of the popular TV show “Parks & Recreation,” when Leslie Knope, played by Amy Poehler, decides to throw a celebration the day before Valentine’s Day to celebrate her female friends.

Since the airing of the episode in 2010, Galentine’s Day has gained appeal among people looking to celebrate friendship amid the Hallmark-y, romance-drenched Valentine’s Day festivities. Some look to Galentine’s Day as a refreshing alternative to Valentine’s Day’s emphasis on romantic love; others look to the day as a way to mark the unique beauty and strength of platonic love.

Gather your BFFs (best friends forever) and check out these Lehigh Valley events to celebrate Galentine’s Day.
